Guidelines for Community Banners

To be installed by MG&E
  • Purpose of the Banner should be related to a community activity, event or concern and not:
    • Advertising for a sales effort
    • Promoting a political action or candidate
    • Announcing news of an individual or personal nature
  • Banners in Middleborough can be installed on South Main Street in one of two locations northwest of the Town Hall (traveling towards the Route 28 & 105 intersection).
  • Banners in these locations will be visible from either side, entering the downtown area or exiting it.
  • Banners may be 30 feet to fit comfortably across the street.
  • All Banners should have wind soffits or “cuts” to eliminate twisting and tearing in the wind. (We can’t recommend this highly enough! We have seen numerous banners destroyed within a day of installing them due to even a light wind. Plus, your message gets lost if your banner is twisted and we can’t continually reset them.)
  • All Banners must have grommets for suspension lines, preferably top and bottom.
  • Community groups requesting a banner be installed should contact the Electric Division at least one month prior to the installation to determine if a position may be available. This is not a guarantee. Banners will be installed as we receive them and removed after the event.
  • Banners must be delivered to the Electric Division on Wareham Street at least one week prior to the requested installation date to accommodate our line crews’ schedules. Remember, you’ll want to install your banner before your event.
  • Banners will be removed and returned to the Electric Division office within one week after the event. Banners for community activities that are not date specific can be left in place for four weeks at most.
  • Please pick up your Banner at the Electric Division office as soon as possible after it is removed. We can’t guarantee its condition if kept in our own storerooms with heavy equipment and gear for very long.
  • We hope we’ve helped! And, of course, we appreciate your kind expressions of thanks. They let our towns and customers know the work we do for them and keeps their support coming.
