MG&E receives a variety of requests for assistance and support from town departments, committees and community groups. Many times, they simply need our manpower and equipment to complete a task that they could not otherwise afford, such as install temporary power for an event, raise a banner downtown or place an ad of support in a program or directory. We’re happy to provide this effort when they can but there are some important limitations.
- Because we are publicly funded, we can only support not-for-profit groups and efforts.
- We cannot simply donate money because, again, our funds are public funds.
- And our time constraints are severe – normally we need to schedule any work we do many months in advance to fit into our tight schedule.
- We also ask that any projects being requested by town departments and citizen volunteer committees be requested through the Selectmen’s office. In doing so, the Selectmen can help the MG&E Commission prioritize these requests to be sure that the more urgent or productive needs are met before the Department’s resources and time are depleted. Remember that MG&E will not be able to provide funding for any materials your project may require.
