For new gas service, MG&E will provide the equipment and up to 150 feet of service line from the existing centerline of the street or easement at no cost to the customer. After that, the customer charge for additional service line is $2.00 per foot.

New appliances must be turned on by the installer. We recommend that gas appliances be installed and turned on by a licensed gas fitter or plumber. 

To stop your gas or electric service, you'll need to visit our office at 32 South Main St., Middleborough, fax us the disconnect information, or send us a letter. Be sure to give us a forwarding address where we can send your final bill, or any possible refund.

When moving or temporarily shutting off gas service, please contact a licensed gas fitter or plumber to be sure that your appliances are properly turned off.

If you need your gas or electric meter moved in order to complete a project such as residing your home, call us at 508-947-3023 for movement of your electric meter and at 508-947-1535 for any work around your gas meter and we will take care of it. Call us back when you are finished to reinstate your service. There is no fee for this service.

If you are leaving for a long period of time and want your gas or electric service disconnected, you must make a written request and sign a waiver either by mail, fax or in person at our office. You will pay a turn-off fee for both electric and gas service at that time. Service will be resumed when you request. When service is resumed, there will be no turn-on fees for both gas and electric service.
