Prompt Payment Discount

All customers are eligible for the Prompt Payment Discount. This includes all natural gas and electric customers and on both commercial and residential charges. This is a 10 percent discount on all energy, demand and customer charges (exclusive of fuel charges) if paid within 10 days of the billing date. It appears on the bill below the Gross Amount and above the Net Amount Due. 

You can pay the Net Amount Due by the Discount Date listed on the bill to take advantage of this money-saving incentive. However, if you are on the senior rate, you have a full 30 days to pay without losing this discount.

Senior Discounted Rate

If you are aged 60 or over, you may qualify for one of our lower elderly rates. Any customer over the age of 60 is eligible for our senior rate, which is effectively 5 percent lower than our standard residential rate, exclusive of fuel charges.

Once you’re on this rate, you’ll have a full 30 days to pay instead of the usual ten and you won’t lose your prompt payment discount. To apply, just contact our office. Positive ID will be required. Don’t miss this chance to save!

Holiday Discount

Watch for our Holiday Discount too! Each year, our management may recommend an additional billing discount during the holiday season. Because we are a public gas and electric utility, whenever we can, we share our successful operation with our customers. The MG&E Commissioners have traditionally voted to give you a small discount on all gas and electricity used in your home for the month, exclusive of fuel charges, and, when possible, for business use as well.

If recommended and approved by the Commission, this discount will be added to your Prompt Payment Discount shown on one month’s bill. It will already be deducted from your bill so you should pay the net amount shown in full by the discount date on your bill. Pay all charges including service charges and any charges in arrears to take advantage of this unique holiday offering.
