James L. Collins
General Manager

Jim has served as General Manager since December of 2001.

Jim joined the Department as our Rate and Energy Analyst in 1988. He has been responsible in large part for securing the energy supplies and contracts that allow us to enjoy some of the lowest rates in New England. He has also met with our largest customers and worked with our managers to set rates that help everyone stay competitive and viable.

Prior to coming to MG&E, Jim worked in natural gas and electric utilities including Algonquin Gas and Boston Edison, analyzing rates and finances, negotiating and providing testimony to regulatory officials.

He holds a BS in accounting and a Masters degree in Finance and has taught financial management in community college.
