John P. Granahan, Jr.
General Manager

John began serving as General Manager in January 2009.

John joined the Department as our Business Manager in 1999. He has been responsible for the billing, accounting and customer service operations as well as Department-wide insurance procurement and capital expenditure oversight. In 2007, he supervised the transition to a new billing system and worked with the gas and electric divisions to begin the installation of automated meter reading technology on residential meters.

Prior to coming to MG&E, John worked for natural gas and electric utilities including Elizabethtown Gas in New Jersey and Eastern Utilities in Massachusetts as where he managed the gas supply and operations of over 100 power cogeneration projects and helped develop power generation plants. He also worked for Fidelity Investments and Deloitte USA.

He holds a BS in accounting and a Masters degree in taxation from Bentley University. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
