Middleborough Gas & Electric was founded on the belief that life's essential services - electricity and natural gas work best when they are controlled closer to home. More than a century later, the idea still makes sense.

The town of Middleborough formed its Gas and Electric Department in 1893 to supply customers in its downtown area. Today the Department serves customers in over 100 square miles including Middleborough and Lakeville.

• Policy is set by an elected Board of Commissioners who meet regularly in open-to-the-public meetings.
